Meet the Readers: Edward Moses

Edward Moses

Edward Moses is far too shy most days to say anything about himself beyond “nah, nothing special; I’m just some dude.” Then, without warning, if he’s 2 to 2.5 whiskeys in and the conversation is excellent, he’ll throw something casual out that casts a few double-takes in the room.

His Mom and Dad call him Eddie, and jokingly say they don’t know where he is most weekends, or what he’s even doing. You might call him to fix your Mac, build a gaming PC, or when you want to know what it’s like to get embarrassed by a High Honors student that plays A LOT of Street Fighter. Some folks call him by his full title — His Highness, The One True Nerd Sovereign, THE BARON VON VADER, AMS. the nerd king, and know him for being a not-so-well-kept secret of great writers in the Midwest Rap scene for the last 25 years. Sweaty people dancing well to House Music in packed rooms just call him VADER when he’s behind the decks. ESPN recently told him that he was now called the new voice of the James Beard Awards, after he’d been the voice of the Final Four NCAA Tournament and a few titles at Jackbox Games. Breakdance scenes in the US call him “the Voice of the Jam.” His friends call him Mos, “hey, nerd,” Ed, bullet-head, Sushi Ghost (long story), and most lovingly, “god damnit, Moses.” And he — lovingly calls friends on their birthdays, buys his wife video games, has too many pairs of sneakers, and does his best to keep his skin care routine intact.

Please join Moses and our other excellent readers on Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2025 in the upstairs bar at Hopleaf. Doors open at 7pm, and the show starts at 7:30. It's free, and 21-and-over. Please RSVP on Facebook.
