Meet the Readers: Michal Eskayo

Michal Eskayo is on faculty in the World Languages and ELL Department at Harold Washington College. She has been teaching writing, speech and news literacy to English Language Learners and some native speakers of English for a freaking long time. Getting this job was like winning the lottery, but AI has thrown a large wrench into, well, everything. When not grading papers, she’s hanging with her chickens. She’s also an avid language learner and traveler. New to writing stories on paper and storytelling, this is Michal’s third time ever sharing a story with more than three people. Something about witnessing the past three years of genocide, her stories connect to her Jewish roots growing up in NYC.

Please join Michal and our other delightful and charming readers on Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2026 in the upstairs bar at Hopleaf. Doors open at 7pm, and the show starts at 7:30. It's free, and 21-and-over. Please RSVP on Facebook.
