November 2025 Debrief
Dan Sinker reads at Tuesday Funk #164

November's Tuesday Funk happened on one of the first truly autumnal days of the year, with drizzle and blustery winds whipping the leaves around. But that didn't stop people from packing the upstairs lounge at Hopleaf!

Bridget Gordon got things started with some of faer poetry. Next, Tanya Kornilovich shared a piece of flash fiction about the moment when you stop working each day. Then Carmen Aiken read an essay about saving friends and neighbors from deportation, today and in the past.

We took a break to refill our drinks, after which cohost Andrew Huff read a couple of his topical haiku. Dan Sinker gave us an essay about this political moment as well as one a hundred years ago when the editor of an Indiana newspaper took on the KKK almost single-handedly. Cohost Erin Watson led a quick toast, and finally Nicole Adabunu read poetry from her unpublished book, A Lower Heaven.

We'll be back at Hopleaf on December 2 with readings by Michal Eskayo, Sophie Goalson, Ben Gucciardi, Daniel Krauss, and Edward Moses. Hope to see you there!
