October 2026 Debrief
The 175th(ish*) episode of Tuesday Funk was a lot of fun! The upstairs lounge of Hopleaf was warm despite the growing fall chill in the air outside, and that warmth spread to the audience. Shivani Gupta got everything started with several food-related poems from her latest chapbook. Next, Carly Travis told a story about her adventures as a street festival beer tent volunteer. Then Darshita Jain read poems about being awkward and fumbling through survival.
We took a break to refill our drinks, after which cohost Andrew shared a couple topical haiku. Then Srikanth "Chicu" Reddy read his translation of a set of haiku by Japanese masters. Cohost Erin made a toast, and finally C. Russell Price read several poems from their latest book, Bisquick: An American Seance.
Join us on Tuesday, Nov. 3 when we'll feature readings by Michal Eskayo, Bridget Gordon, Weston Morrow, Sarah Steimer and Chris Vanjonack. Hope to see you there!
